The Bus Stop

Ben’s last train home is cancelled. Cora decides to make the delay worth his while.

Stranded after a night out, Ben heads for the bus and finds himself sharing the stop with Cora and Evie. Cora is a sight for sore eyes, dressed for attention and completely aware of the effect she has on him. When teasing turns into an outright proposition, Ben suddenly has to choose between waiting for the girl who keeps him in the friend zone and following a stranger who has no intention of making him wait at all.

Cora has no interest in making Ben wait.

About the book

Ben has spent months getting nowhere with the woman he wants. Then a cancelled train puts Cora in front of him, and she has no interest in making him wait for anything. She has given him just enough encouragement to keep him hanging on, while never quite giving him what he wants.

Cora is the opposite.

Newly single, adventurous and completely comfortable with what she wants, she takes one look at Ben and starts closing the distance. With Evie happily fuelling the teasing, Cora turns a chance encounter at a bus stop into an increasingly direct invitation.

The Bus Stop follows Ben as waiting for possibility collides with a spontaneous proposition that leaves him deciding whether to follow Cora right now. By the time the three of them find privacy in Cora’s favourite spot in a nearby park, the girl Ben had been thinking about on the journey home suddenly feels much farther away.

Character, pressure and choice

The tension at the centre

Ben is not used to women like Cora. He is cautious, decent and far more comfortable hoping for affection than being directly propositioned by a stranger who knows exactly what she wants.

Cora has none of those reservations. The darkness, the public setting and Ben’s obvious uncertainty only seem to amuse her, while every look, joke and touch makes resisting her harder. Ben keeps telling himself he should wait for the girl he actually likes. Cora keeps giving him reasons to wonder why.

At the centre

Three people. One very short walk from restraint to temptation.

Heat and pursuit

Cora

Wild, sensual and built to attract attention, Cora is newly single and in no mood to be subtle. When she sees a man she wants, she goes after him with the confidence of someone who fully expects desire to be returned.

Restraint and temptation

Ben

A good guy who has spent months waiting for his crush to notice him properly, Ben is completely unprepared for someone as direct as Cora. Her looks, confidence and willingness to escalate leave him trying to hold onto a plan that suddenly feels much less convincing.

Teasing and escalation

Evie

Cora’s gorgeous sidekick knows exactly how to make a situation hotter. Whether she is teasing Ben, encouraging Cora or putting on a show of her own, Evie helps turn an unexpected encounter into something Ben has almost no experience handling.

Why read The Bus Stop?

Ben has waited months for one woman. Cora has no intention of making him wait at all.

The Bus Stop is a fast, playful story about attraction moving far quicker than Ben expects. Cora sees what she wants and goes from teasing to temptation with almost no hesitation, dragging Ben out of both the friend zone and his comfort zone. The fun comes from watching him decide whether the girl he has been waiting for is worth resisting the one standing right in front of him.
