Madison is intelligent, disciplined and accustomed to working inside systems built to control risk. Sydnee makes every assumption behind those systems irrelevant.

Her form is athletic, voluptuous and deliberately alluring, but her beauty is only the surface of the threat. Sydnee’s abilities have no obvious source, no recognised limits and no respect for the physical barriers surrounding her.

Contiguity begins as a containment breach and becomes something far more intimate. Madison finds herself reacting to Sydnee in ways she cannot explain, while Andy is forced to watch the woman he loves being drawn towards a force neither of them understands, one that appears determined to take Madison somewhere she may never return from.

Andy can see the danger before Madison fully understands it. Quarantine protocols lock the situation down while Sydnee closes in, leaving him forced to watch as an incomprehensible force begins seducing his girlfriend in front of him.

Madison’s problem is even more disturbing. She knows who she is, she knows what she wants and she knows Andy is standing only a short distance away, yet her body and mind respond to Sydnee as though those certainties suddenly carry less weight.

Once Madison understands that attraction is part of the trap, the story becomes a race against something almost impossible to measure: how do you escape a predator whose influence can reach you inside one of the most secure laboratories in the country?
